Preparing for College Writing I - ENG 1 at John Tyler Community College

ENG 1 - Preparing for College Writing I: Helps students discover and develop writing processes needed to bring their proficiency to the level necessary for entrance in to their respective curricula. Guides students through the process of starting, composing, revising, and editing.

Variable hours per week.

PREREQUISITE: Both reading and writing placement tests must be taken before enrolling in the first English course. These scores will determine the correct English enrollment. The writing score will determine whether ENG 01 and/or ENG 03 is required before ENG 111. The reading score will determine whether ENG 05 and/or ENG 06 is required before ENG 111. If the reading score determines that ENG 06 is required, it may be taken the same semester as ENG 111. Students who do not have the required prerequisite may be removed from class.
