Teaches fundamentals of residential power distribution, circuits, enclosures, protective devices, transformers. Studies various charts and tables of the national electrical code. Part I of II.

Studies passive and active components with applications. Includes DC and AC analysis of networks and circuits as applied to fundamental electrical and electronic circuits and systems. Part I of II.

Studies wiring methods and standards used for residential dwellings. Provides practical experience in design, layout, construction, and testing of residential wiring systems by use of scaled mock-ups.

Provides comprehensive study of the purpose and interpretations of the National Electric Code as well as familiarization and implementation of various charts, code rulings and wiring methods including state and local regulations. Part I of II.

Teaches the fundamentals of electricity, terminology, symbols, and diagrams. Includes the principles essential to the understanding of general practices, safety and the practical aspects of residential and non-residential wiring and electrical installation, including fundamentals of motors and controls. Pre/Corequisite MTH 02 or equivalent. Part I of II.

Provides comprehensive study of the purposes and interpretations of national electrical wiring methods, including state and local regulations.

Provides comprehensive study of the purposes and interpretations of the National Electrical Code that deal primarily with industrial wiring methods, including state and local regulations.

ELE 138 - National Electrical Code Review I
Covers purpose and interpretation of the National Electrical Code as well as various charts, code rulings and wiring methods. Prepares the student to take the journeyman- level exam.

ELE 140 - Basic Electricity and Machinery
Studies direct and alternating current principles, resistors, magnetism, capacitors, protection systems, switches, controls and power distribution for industrial machine shops. Emphasizes test procedures and safety.

ELE 141 - D.C. and A.C. Machines
Teaches construction, theory of operation, connections, and applications of direct current motors, generators, single and polyphase alternating current alternators, synchronous and induction motors. Prerequisite: ELE 150 or equivalent.
Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3-9 hours. Total 6-12 hours per week.

ELE 145 - Transformer Connections and Circuits
Studies transformer theory, symbols, diagrams, connections, terminology and troubleshooting techniques. Prerequisite: ELE 150 or equivalent.

ELE 149 - Wiring Methods in Industry
Studies the fundamentals of industrial power distribution, circuits, switches, enclosures, panels, fuses, circuit breakers, transformers, and wiring methods, using various charts and tables of the National Electrical Code.

ELE 150 - A.C. and D.C. Circuit Fundamentals
Provides an intensive study of the fundamentals of direct and alternating current, resistance, magnetism, inductance and capacitance, with emphasis on practical applications. Focuses on electrical/machines applications.
Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.

ELE 151 - Electrical Troubleshooting
Teaches troubleshooting as applied to residential wiring and/or electrical appliances.

Includes troubleshooting and servicing electrical controls, electric motors, motor controls, motor starters, relays, overloads, instruments and control circuits.

Introduces basic electrical and other controls used in home and industry. Includes application of panels, fuse boxes, breakers, and transformers, experiments to develop testing and troubleshooting techniques.

Studies symbols, terminology, connections, applications and troubleshooting of direct and alternating current electrical/electronic circuits and controls used in industry.

ELE 173 - Commercial Wiring Methods
Covers electrical wiring methods and standards used for commercial buildings and provides a comprehensive study of the national electrical code that deals with commercial wiring installations including state and local regulations. Includes building wiring as well as the wiring of electrical equipment and appliances in a commercial environment. Prerequisite: ENG 05.

Supervises in on-the-job training for pay in approved business, industrial and service firms, coordinated by the college's cooperative education office. Is applicable to all occupational- technical curricula at the discretion of the college.
