CIV 115 - Civil Engineering Drafting
Introduces terminology and drafting procedures related to civil engineering.

CIV 135 - Construction Management and Estimating
Teaches the equipment and methods used in construction. Includes principles and economics of construction, planning and management, and principles of estimating primarily using highway and building project examples.
Lecture 3 hours per week.

CIV 170 - Principles of Surveying
Introduces the elements of surveying to include use and care of modern surveying equipment and the application of surveying in construction.
Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.
Prerequisite: Technical Math.

CIV 171 - Surveying I
Introduces surveying equipment, procedures and computations including adjustment of instruments, distance measurement, leveling, angle measurement, traversing, traverse adjustments, area computations and introduction to topography.
Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
Prerequisite: Engineering Technical Math or divisional approval.

CIV 172 - Surveying II
Introduces surveys for transportation systems including the preparation and analysis of topographic maps, horizontal and vertical curves, earthwork and other topics related to transportation construction.
Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hour per week.
Prerequisite: CIV 171 or equivalent.

CIV 175 - Geomatics Laboratory
Teaches use of instrumentation to make basic plane surveying measurements for horizontal, vertical, and angular measurement, and includes construction survey and layout. Focuses on the use of pacing techniques, steel tape, level, and total stations.
Laboratory 3 hour. Total 3 hours per week.

CIV 210 - Structural Systems
Introduces the application of the principles of mechanics and strength of materials to the analysis and design of civil engineering structures, specifically in the areas of building and highway construction.

Prerequisite: Statics and Strength of Materials.

CIV 220 - Structural Analysis
Focuses on the analysis of statically determinate and indeterminate structures based on principles of statics, strength of materials and geometric conditions.

CIV 225 - Soil Mechanics
Focuses on soil in its relationship to engineering construction. Includes soil composition and structure, weight-volume relationships, sampling procedures, classification systems, water in soil, stresses, strains, bearing capacity, settlement and expansion, compaction, stabilization, and introduction to foundations and retaining walls.

CIV 226 - Soil Mechanics Laboratory
Introduces practical soil sampling; classification of unified, ASTM and ASSHTO specifications; laboratory testing of soils to predict engineering performance.

Introduces properties of Portland cement concrete, methods of mix design and adjustment, transportation, placement and curing in accordance with ACI and PCA recommended procedures.

Focuses on mixing, curing, testing and quality control of concrete.

CIV 240 - Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics
Introduces the principles of fluid flow and development of practical hydraulics resulting from study of fluid statics, flow of real fluid in pipes, multiple pipe lines, liquid flow in open channels, and fluid measurement techniques.

Prerequisite: Statics or divisional approval.

Introduces the elements of hydrology and hydraulic systems.
