- Teaches fundamentals of patient care with laboratory experience in foods and fluids, elimination, moving patients, morning, afternoon and evening care, care of hospital equipment, means of providing special comforts and safety, and admission and discharge procedures.Lecture 2 hours. 3 credits - NUR 27 - Nurse Aide I
- Teaches care of older patients with emphasis on the social, emotional, and spiritual needs. Covers procedures; communication and interpersonal relations; observation, charting and reporting; safety and infection control; anatomy and physiology; personal care, nutrition and patient feeding; death and dying. May include laboratory or clinical hours.Lecture 2-4 hours. Laboratory 3-9 hours. Total 6-11 hours per week.
3-5 credits - NUR 29 - Home Health Aide

- Develops nursing skills for the basic needs of individuals and introduces related theory. Includes assessment, personal care, activity/rest, sterile technique, wound care, ostomy care, catheterization, oxygen administration, infection control, suctioning and medication administration. Provides supervised learning experiences in college nursing laboratories and/or cooperating agencies.Lecture 0-2 hours. Laboratory 2-9 hours. Total 4-9 hours per week.

- Introduces nursing principles including concepts of health and wellness and the nursing process. Develops nursing skills to meet the biopsychosocial needs of individuals across the lifespan. - Focuses on the nursing care of adults experiencing changes along the health/illness continuum that are common, well-defined, and have predictable outcomes. Includes math computational skills, basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care; acid-base balance, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, musculoskeletal, immunology, oncology, sensori-neural, infectious diseases, endocrine, respiratory and blood disorders and care of the dying client. 7-8 credits - NUR 115 - LPN Transition
- Introduces the role of the registered nurse through concepts and skill development in the discipline of professional nursing. This course serves as a bridge course for licensed practical nurses and is based upon individualized articulation agreements, mobility exams, or other assessment criteria as they relate to local programs and service areas. Includes math computational skills and basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care. - Focuses on basic terminology used in nursing. Emphasizes combining word forms and applications to nursing situations and the patient's record.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - NUR 135 - Drug Dosage Calculations
- Focuses on apothecary, metric, household conversion in medication dosage calculation for adult and pediatric clients. Provides a practical approach to learning to calculate and prepare medications and solutions. Includes calculating intravenous flow rates.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - NUR 136 - Principles of Pharmacology I
- Focuses on principles of medication administration which include dosage calculations, major drug classifications, drug legislation, legal aspects of medication administration, drug action on specific body systems, and basic computer applications.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - NUR 161 - Nursing Perspectives
- Teaches the philosophy and curricular framework of the nursing program. Explores the dimensions of the discipline of nursing. Includes historical aspects and selected current trends, ethical/ legal issues, and responsibilities of the associate degree nurse.Lecture 1 hour per week.
1 credits - NUR 180 - Essentials of Maternal/Newborn Nursing
- Utilizes the concepts of the nursing process in caring for families in the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods.
