Covers the fundamentals of residential power distribution, circuits, panels, fuse boxes, breakers, transformers. Includes study of the national electrical code, purpose and interpretation.

Studies wiring methods and standards used for residential dwellings. Provides practical experience in design, layout, construction, and testing of residential wiring systems by use of scaled mock-ups.

Provides comprehensive study of the purpose and interpretations of the National Electric Code as well as familiarization and implementation of various charts, code rulings and wiring methods including state and local regulations. Part I of II.

ELE 138 - National Electrical Code Review I
Covers purpose and interpretation of the National Electrical Code as well as various charts, code rulings and wiring methods. Prepares the student to take the journeyman- level exam.

Studies operating characteristics, programming techniques, interfacing, and networking capabilities of programmable logic controllers. Studies controllers with analog and/or digital interfacing, hand-held and/or software programming. Prerequisites: ETR 156, ELE 158, or equivalent. Part I of II.

ELE 150 - A.C. and D.C. Circuit Fundamentals
Provides an intensive study of the fundamentals of direct and alternating current, resistance, magnetism, inductance and capacitance, with emphasis on practical applications. Focuses on electrical/machines applications.

ELE 156 - Electrical Control Systems
Includes troubleshooting and servicing electrical controls, electric motors, motor controls, motor starters, relays, overloads, instruments and control circuits.

ELE 157 - Electricity Fundamentals
Teaches the theories and laws of the flow of electricity, magnetism, inductance, capacitance, and the fundamentals of direct and alternating currents. Provides practical application by the use of test and measuring equipment, circuitry, and electrical apparatus.

ELE 160 - Power Controls
Introduces basic electrical and other controls used in home and industry. Includes application of panels, fuse boxes, breakers, and transformers, experiments to develop testing and troubleshooting techniques.

Studies components, equipment and circuits that are used to control the operation of electrical machines. Explains the physical and operating characteristics of various electromagnetic, static, and programmable control devices. Investigates control schemes used to accomplish specific control objectives.

Teaches operating and programming of programmable logic controllers. Covers analog and digital interfacing and communication schemes as they apply to system. Prerequisite: ETR 156 and ETR 211 or equivalent. Part I of II.

Examines installation, programming, interfacing, and concepts of troubleshooting programmable controllers.

ELE 240 - Advanced Programmable Logic Controllers
Advances further study of Programmable Logic Controllers that was initiated in ELE 239. Students will learn to use more advanced program instructions, including data manipulation, sequences and program control, and advanced PLC features, including timers, counters. Covers connectivity and use of a variety of real world I/O devices. Prerequisite: ELE 239.

ELE 246 - Industrial Robotics Programming
Introduces industrial robotics and their programming for repetitive manufacturing systems. Includes the design of software that ensures safe operation and programming of both on- and off-line robot operations. This course is cross-listed with IND 246. Credit will not be awarded for both.
