ESL 1 - English As a Second Language I
Provides intensive instruction at the beginning level. Includes listening comprehension, pronunciation and oral production of basic grammatical structure; reading and vocabulary development; and introduction to the writing process.
Variable hours per week.
9-20 credits
ESL 3 - English As a Second Language III
Provides intensive instruction and practice at the intermediate level. Includes practice in oral communication skills needed in common situations; instruction to increase reading comprehension and vocabulary and practice in the writing process, emphasizing sentence structure, grammar and paragraph writing.
Variable hours per week.
9-20 credits
ESL 4 - English As a Second Language IV
Provides instruction at the high intermediate level. Emphasizes reading and writing skills needed for successful completion of college work. Includes instruction to improve reading comprehension, study skills and reading rate. Introduces written academic English through practice in the writing process emphasizing summary writing, short essays and advanced language patterns.

ESL 5 - English As a Second Language: Reading I
Helps students improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary. Improves students' reading proficiency to a level which would allow the students to function adequately in ESL 06 and other college classes.

ESL 6 - English As a Second Language: Reading II
Helps students improve their reading comprehension and vocabulary. Improves students' reading proficiency to a level which would allow students to function adequately in the ESL 17 reading class and other college classes.

ESL 12 - English As a Second Language: Composition II
Provides further instruction and practice in the writing process, and inroduces advanced language patterns. Includes practice in developing and improving writing strategies.

ESL 14 - ESL: Oral and Written Communications I
Provides practice in the sound, stress, intonation, structural patterns, grammar, vocabulary, and idioms of beginning-level English.

ESL 15 - ESL: Oral and Written Communications II
Provides practice in the sound, stress, intonation, structural patterns, grammar, vocabulary, and idioms of intermediate-level English.
