Surveys horse breeds, their functions and uses. Addresses horse conformation facilities, and basic feeds and feedings. Includes study of principles of horse nutrition.

Introduces the basics of proper position at the walk, trot, and canter for the beginning rider.

Emphasizes securing the rider's position on the flat and over fences, with further exposure to jumping. Prerequisite
EQU 140 or demonstrated basic control over a horse ridden in a group.
