Emphasizes language arts skills learned in
BSK 41 in preparation for more advanced courses. Continues with vocabulary development (phonics, root words, dictionary skills), conventions of Standard English (grammar/punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure), reading comprehension, (main idea, supporting details, transitions), study skills (goal setting), and critical thinking skills (basic point/support). Prerequisite:
BSK 41 or appropriate placement.
Lecture 0-2 hours. Laboratory 0-4 hours. Total 2-4 hours per week.
