Improves reading comprehension by examining structural format (organizational patterns) vocabulary development (antonyms, synonyms, homonyms), comprehension (transitions/relationships, implied main idea), study skills (note-taking, organizational skills), and critical thinking (author's purpose, barriers to critical thinking) and improves writing abilities by developing extended paragraphs using conventional Standards of English. Prerequisite:
BSK 42 or appropriate placement.
Lecture 0-2 hours. Laboratory 0-4 hours. Total 2-4 hours per week.
