Strengthens reading and writing abilities with intense emphasis on comprehension (organizational pattersn), literary genre (short stories, novels), library skills (research methods) and study skills (Cornell note-taking method), critical thinking (purpose and tone, point of view/bias), and rhetorical patters of development (narration, description, definition, summary writing) for essay writing. Prerequisite:
BSK 43 or appropriate placement.
Lecture 0-2 hours. Laboratory 0-4 hours. Total 2-4 hours per week.
