ENE 100 - Conventional and Alternate Energy Applications
Provides an overview of hydroelectric, coal, and nuclear energy production methods and renewable solar, geothermal, wind, and fuel cell technology. A complete system breakdown of conventional power production methods, efficiency, and sustainability when compared with solar, geothermal, wind, and fuel cell applications.

ENE 101 - Principles of Wind Energy
Introduces the wind energy industry and the role of the technician; provides exposure to business strategies and methodologies used by owner/operators of wind farms, and manufacturers of wind turbines.

ENE 104 - Energy Industry Fundamentals
Provides a broad understanding of the electric and natural gas utility industry and the energy generation, transmission, and distribution infrastructure. Covers business models, regulations, types of energy and their conversion to useable energy such as electric power, how generated power is transmitted and distributed to the point of use, emerging technologies, and the connection to careers in the energy industry.
Lecture 4-5 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.

ENE 105 - Solar Thermal Active and Passive Technology
Provides a comprehensive study of thermal technology as it applies to collector types and ratings, open-loop versus closed-loop and system sizing. Introduces hydronics, hot water, and pool heating applications. Provides an introduction to fluid dynamics and chemistry as it applies to system installation and maintenance.

ENE 107 - Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Networking
Covers Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, Industrial Ethernet communications systems as they apply to the wind energy industry; provides hands-on experience through laboratory and field experiences.

ENE 108 - Intro to Data Center Operations
Provides the foundational aspects of data center fundamentals, data center compliance, operations, and physical infrastructure. Introduces mission critical operations as they apply to data centers. Teaches students the physical components of a data center, its interoperability, and the usage of data center equipment in a simulated data center environment.

ENE 110 - Solar Power Installations
Covers wiring, control, conversion, and ties to established power systems. Studies use of invertors, batteries, and charging systems.

Covers identification and correction of safety hazards on a wind farm. Builds the foundation for a safe work environment in the wind energy industry. Provides hands-on experience through laboratory and field experiences.

ENE 120 - Solar Power - Photovoltaic and Thermal
Studies the production and conversion of electrical energy from modular to grid power systems. Covers the storage of energy, thermal solar capture, and storage for residential and commercial applications. Covers energy conversion and storage equipment based on size and efficiency.

Prerequisite: ELE 157 or equivalent.

ENE 122 - Wind Turbine Materials and Electro-Mechanical Equipment
Provides identification and analysis of the components and systems within a wind turbine. Emphasizes development of the knowledge and hand skills needed when installing, repairing and replacing turbine components using common tools and equipment.Provides hands-on experience through laboratory and field experiences.
(3 Cr.) Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 4 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

ENE 125 - Wind Power Delivery Systems
Reviews the components and process of the electrical power generation and delivery systems for wind energy and sub-station. Includes inspection of electrical control system components, low voltage power distribution/transformers; applies manufacture documentation and software, schematics and wiring diagrams, and flow charts to field scenarios. Provides hands-on experience through laboratory and field experiences.
(3 Cr.) Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 4 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
Prerequisite: ENE 100.

ENE 130 - Wind Turbine Troubleshooting and Repair
Includes installation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of wind turbine electro-mechanical systems. Emphasizes skills essential to routine maintenance and repair of wind turbine electrical and mechanical systems and provides hands-on experience through laboratory and field experiences.
(3 Cr.) Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 4 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
Prerequisite: ENE 125.

Provides a complete overview of a data center such as power systems, communications systems, cooling systems and fire and intrusion detection systems. Introduces commissioning and decommissioning concepts as they apply to data centers. Provides hands-on experience through laboratory exercises.

Studies wind turbines, their location, efficiency, and cost. Covers power generation with wind turbines, storage, conversion to established values, use of batteries, invertors, grid tie systems, and all necessary wiring installations.

Introduces building automation and energy management systems. Studies how building systems HVAC, lighting, security systems, and alternative energy--can communicate through a network of intelligent control devices. Emphasizes how these controlling devices work together in common automation.
