- AUT 100 - Introduction to Automotive Shop Practices
- Introduces shop practices for automotive laboratory and shop safety, identification and use of hand tools, general power equipment and maintenance of automotive shop. Explains basic operation procedures of standard shop equipment. Presents Occupational Safety and Health Act standards pertaining to the automotive field.Lecture 2-3 hours per week.
2-3 credits - AUT 101 - Introduction to Automotive Systems
- Introduces fundamental systems of automobile, the engine fuel, exhaust, electric, ignition, lubrication, cooling, transmission, steering, brake and suspension systems. Teaches theory and function of each system. Demonstrates operation.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-6 hours per week.
3-4 credits - AUT 111 - Automotive Engines I
- Presents analysis of power, cylinder condition, valves and bearings in the automotive engine to establish the present condition, repairs or adjustments. Part I of II.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-6 hours per week.

- Presents analysis of power, cylinder condition, valves and bearings in the automotive engine to establish the present condition, repairs or adjustments. Part II of II.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-6 hours per week.
3-4 credits - AUT 121 - Automotive Fuel Systems I
- Analyses major domestic and foreign automotive fuel systems to include carburetors and fuel injection systems. Includes detailed inspection and discussion of fuel tanks, connecting lines, instruments, filters, fuel pumps, superchargers, and turbo charger. Also includes complete diagnosis, troubleshooting, overhaul and factory adjustment procedures of all major carbureted and fuel injection systems. Part I of II.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 0-3 hours. Total 3-6 hours per week.

Includes clutches, propeller shaft, universal joints, rear axle assemblies, fluid couplings, torque converters as well as 2, 3, and 4 speed standard, overdrive and automatic transmissions. Part I of II.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-6 hours. Total 4-8 hours per week.
3-4 credits - AUT 142 - Auto Power Trains II
- Presents operation, design, construction and repair of power train components, standard and automatic transmission. Includes clutches, propeller shaft, universal joints, rear axle assemblies, fluid couplings, torque converters as well as 2, 3, and 4 speed standard, overdrive and automatic transmissions. Part II of II.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-6 hours. Total 4-8 hours per week.
3-4 credits - AUT 156 - Small Gasoline Engines
- Studies small gasoline engine operating principles, construction, design, variety, and their many purposes. Gives instruction on two-cycle and four-cycle small gas engines, their construction, design, fuel system, ignition system, and lubricating systems. Demonstrates disassembly, reconditioning, overhaul and reassembly in the lab.Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 3-5 hours per week.
2-3 credits - AUT 165 - Auto Diagnosis and Tune-Up
- Presents the techniques for diagnosis of malfunctions in systems of the automobile. Uses dynamometers, oscilloscopes and other specialized diagnostic and testing equipment. Demonstrates tune-up of conventional and rotary engines.Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
2 credits - AUT 178 - Automotive Final Drive and Manual Transmission Systems
- Presents the operation, design, construction and repair of manual transmissions and final drive systems, for both front and rear drive vehicles, including clutches, synchronizers, torque multiplication/gear reduction, along with differentials, transmission/transaxles, drive axels, U-joints, CV joints, 4-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - AUT 195 - Topics In
- Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.

- Assigns problems for independent study incorporating previous instruction and supervised by the instructor.May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - AUT 215 - Emissions Systems Diagnosis and Repair
- Presents logical diagnostic paths to identify vehicle HC-CO, O2, and NOx failure areas, Teaches a progression of failure detection from most likely to more complex causes. Emphasizes use of infrared analyzer and manufacturer's specified adjustments.Lecture 2 hours per week.
2 credits - AUT 235 - Automotive Heating and Air Conditioning
- Studies separate and combined automotive heaters and air conditioning, including direct and vacuum operated controls, basic principles of refrigeration, adjustment, general servicing, and charging of air conditioning systems.Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 3-5 hours per week.
2-3 credits - AUT 236 - Automotive Climate Control
- Introduces principles of refrigeration, air conditioning controls, and adjustment and general servicing of automotive air conditioning systems.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - AUT 265 - Automotive Braking Systems
- Presents operation, design, construction, repair, and servicing of braking system, including Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS). Explains uses of tools and test equipment, evaluation of test results, estimation of repair cost for power, standard and disc brakes.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5-6 hours per week.
