Focuses on the physical needs of the preschool child and the methods by which these are met. Emphasizes health routines, hygiene, nutrition, feeding and clothing habits, childhood diseases, and safety as related to health growth and development.

Studies nutrient components of food, including carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and water. Provides a behavioral approach to nutrient guidelines for the development and maintenance of optimum wellness. The assignments in the course require college-level reading fluency and coherent communication through documented written reports.
