Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.
May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.

ITE 100 - Introduction to Information Systems
Covers the fundamentals of computers and computing and topics which include impact of computers on society, ethical issues, and terminology. Provides discussion about available hardware and software as well as their application.

ITE 101 - Introduction to Microcomputers
Examines concepts and terminology related to microcomputers and introduces specific uses of microcomputers.

ITE 102 - Computers and Information Systems
Introduces terminology, concepts, and methods of using computers in information systems. This course teaches computer literacy, not intended for Information Technology majors.

ITE 115 - Introduction to Computer Applications and Concepts
Covers computer concepts and internet skills, and uses a software suite which includes word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software to demonstrate skills. Recommended prerequisite keyboarding skills.

ITE 119 - Information Literacy
Presents the information literacy core competencies focusing on the use of information technology skills. Skills and knowledge will be developed in database searching, computer applications, information security and privacy, and intellectual property issues.

ITE 120 - Principles of Information Systems
Provides an overview of the fundamentals of computer information systems. Focuses on the role of computers in business today including hardware, software, analysis, design and implementation of information systems. Includes an introduction to computer ethics, and business and personal security. Exposes students to techniques used in programming and system development. Utilizes a hands-on component for spreadsheets, databases, and web design applications.

ITE 127 - Microcomputer Software: Beginning Windows
Imparts first-time users with sufficient information to make practical use of the Windows software package. Presents the basics of the features and applications included in the Windows operating system package.

Provides students with a working knowledge of Internet terminology and services including e-mail, WWW browsing, search engines, ftp, file compression, and other services using a variety of software packages. Provides instruction for basic web page construction.

Introduces students to basic Internet terminology and services including e-mail, WWW browsing, search engines, ftp telnet, and other services.

ITE 140 - Spreadsheet Software
Covers the use of spreadsheet software to create spreadsheets with formatted cells and cell ranges, control pages, multiple sheets, charts, and macros. Topics include type and edit text in a cell, enter data on multiple worksheets, work with formulas and functions, create charts, pivot tables, and styles, insert headers and footers, and filter data.

ITE 141 - Microcomputer Software: Spreadsheets
Provides first-time users with sufficient information to make practical use of spreadsheet software using the basic of building spreadsheets.

Incorporates instruction in planning, defining, and using a database; performing queries; producing reports; working with multiple files; and concepts of database programming. Includes database concepts, principles of table design and table relationships, entering data, creating and using forms, using data from different sources, filtering, creating mailing labels.

Presents first-time users with sufficient information to make practical use of database management software using the basics of building databases. Covers specific business applications.

Explores technical fundamentals of creating multimedia projects with related hardware and software. Students will learn to manage resources required for multimedia production and evaluation and techniques for selection of graphics and multimedia software.

Focuses on providing the student with a working knowledge of introductory email function. Includes the basic concepts of customizing email and using all the email capabilities for reading, creating, sending emails, managing calendar functions and managing contacts, tasks, and notes.

Covers new content not covered in existing courses in the discipline. Allows instructor to explore content and instructional methods to assess the course's viability as a permanent offering.
