- NUR 100 - Introduction to Nursing and Health
- Introduces concepts of nursing and health. Includes historical and cultural aspects, legal, and ethical responsibilities and an overview of health and the health care delivery system.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - NUR 115 - LPN Transition
- Introduces the role of the registered nurse through concepts and skill development in the discipline of professional nursing. This course serves as a bridge course for licensed practical nurses and is based upon individualized articulation agreements, mobility exams, or other assessment criteria as they relate to local programs and service areas. Includes math computational skills and basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care. (THIS COURSE HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE VICE CHANCELLOR AS AN EXCEPTION TO THE VARIABLE CREDIT POLICY.)Lecture 1-7 hours. Laboratory 1-18 hours. Total 2-19 hours per week.
2-7 credits - NUR 116 - Selected Nursing Concepts
- Introduces selected basic skills and concepts in the discipline of nursing and their incorporation into care to meet the changing standards of nursing practice. Intended as a transition/refresher course for transfer and returning students.Lecture 0-2 hours. Laboratory 0-6 hours. Total 1-6 hours per week.
1-2 credits - NUR 135 - Drug Dosage Calculations
- Focuses on apothecary, metric, household conversion in medication dosage calculation for adult and pediatric clients. Provides a practical approach to learning to calculate and prepare medications and solutions. Includes calculating intravenous flow rates.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - NUR 195 - Topics In
- Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - NUR 226 - Health Assessment
- Introduces the systematic approach to obtaining a health history and performing a physical assessment.Lecture 0-2 hours. Laboratory 2-9 hours. Total 3-9 hours per week.
2-3 credits - NUR 245 - Maternal/Newborn Nursing
- Develops nursing skills in caring for families in the antepartum, intrapartum, and post-partum periods.Lecture 1-3 hours. Laboratory 1-9 hours. Total 3-9 hours per week.
3-4 credits - NUR 254 - Dimensions of Professional Nursing
- Explores the role of the professional nurse. Emphasizes nursing organizations, legal and ethical implications, and addresses trends in management and organizational skills. Explores group dynamics, relationships, conflicts, and leadership styles.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - NUR 295 - Topics In
- Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
