Course Description

Continues the development of performance skills through theatre exercises, scene and monologue work, and exploration of personalized character work as it applies to modern acting. Part III or IV.
Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

General Course Purpose
Gives students both a physical and mental understanding of the various approaches to acting.
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate an increased awareness of basic theatrical skills and processes.
- Practice voice, speech, trust and relaxation techniques.
- Utilize basic tools for the evaluation and performance of traditional theatrical text.
- Develop research methods and techniques needed for theatrical artists.
- Demonstrate a deeper understanding of acting theory and style with an emphasis on application.
- Select, rehearse and perform classical texts.
- Experience live theater as both a performer and audience member.
- Analyze the actor?s process when dealing with stylized physicalization and language.
