BIO 102 - General Biology II
Focuses on biological processes with a chemical foundation, including macromolecules, cellular structure, metabolism, and genetics in an evolutionary context. Explores the core concepts of evolution; structure and function; information flow, storage and exchange; pathways and transformations of energy and matter; and systems biology. Emphasizes the process of science, interdisciplinary approach, and relevance of biology to society. Part II of a two-course sequence.
Lecture 3 hours. Recitation and laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
Prerequisite: BIO 101 or Departmental Permission

This is a HyFlex course. There will be weekly scheduled lectures/discussions. Students may choose to attend these meetings in person or through the Zoom platform. Lectures and instructions for assignments will also be available online if the student prefers to work fully asynchronously in Canvas. Students can move between methods (attending one week in person and the next online, for example) based on their own needs and availabilities. This format offers students the ultimate flexibility to learn at their own pace.
