: Introduces students to computers in health care. Provides a basic overview of computer architecture, common software applications and their use in health care, electronic data management, adoption of the electronic health record (EHR), and privacy and security.
Lecture 2 hours per week. Lab 3 hours per week. Total 5 hours per week.

General Course Purpose
The general purpose of this course is to provide the history and impact of computers in healthcare. To provide an overview of the basic components of the personal computer. To explore how computerization is used in healthcare and the electronic health record.
