- Focuses on the physical needs of the preschool child and the methods by which these are met. Emphasizes health routines, hygiene, nutrition, feeding and clothing habits, childhood diseases, and safety as related to health growth and development.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - HLT 138 - Principles of Nutrition
- Studies nutrient components of food, including carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, minerals and water. Provides a behavioral approach to nutrient guidelines for the development and maintenance of optimum wellness.Lecture 1-2 hours per week.

- Provides an understanding of medical abbreviations and terms. Includes the study of prefixes, suffixes, word stems, and technical terms with emphasis on proper spelling, pronunciation, and usage. - Focuses on ethical concepts of health care. Emphasizes confidentiality, maintaining patient records, personal appearance, professionalism with patients/clients, associates, and an awareness of health care facilities.Lecture 1-2 hours. Total 1-2 hours per week.
1-2 credits - HLT 156 - Health Care for Athletic Injuries
- Teaches prevention and care of athletic injuries, recognition and management of head and spinal injuries, fractures, strains, sprains, as well as cardiac emergencies. Discusses taping, protective equipment, and medical referral.Lecture 2-3 hours per week.
2-3 credits - HLT 235 - Diagnostic Cardiography
