- Presents elementary biological and chemical principles for allied health students whose high school preparation is deficient in the biological sciences.Lecture 1-3 hours. Laboratory 0-3 hours. Total 1-6 hours per week.
1-4 credits - NAS 5 - Sciences
- Focuses on the basic principles of chemistry, physics, and biology.Lecture 2 hours. Recitation and laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - NAS 90 - Coordinated Internship
- Supervises on-the-job training in selected business, industrial or service firms coordinated by the college.Credit/practice ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - NAS 95 - Topics In
- Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - NAS 96 - On-Site Training
- Specializes in career orientation and training program without pay in selected businesses and industry, supervised and coordinated by the college.Credit/work ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - NAS 97 - Cooperative Education
- Supervises in on-the-job training for pay in approved business, industrial and service firms, coordinated by the college's cooperative education office. Is applicable to all occupational- technical curricula at the discretion of the college.Credit/work ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - NAS 98 - Seminar and Project
- Requires completion of a project or research report related to the student's occupational objectives and a study of approaches to the selection and pursuit of career opportunities in the field.May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.

- Assigns problems for independent study incorporating previous instruction and supervised by the instructor.May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - NAS 106 - Conservation of Natural Resources
- Describes the management of natural resources, balance of nature, and the human impact on the environment.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - NAS 125 - Meteorology
- Presents a non-technical survey of fundamentals meteorology. Focuses on the effects of weather and climate on humans and their activities. Serves for endorsement or recertification of earth science teachers.Lecture 3 hours per week. Recitation and laboratory 2 hours per week. Total 5 hours per week.
4 credits - NAS 130 - Elements of Astronomy
- Covers history of astronomy and its recent developments. Stresses the use of astronomical instruments and measuring techniques and includes the study and observation of the solar system, stars, and galaxies.Lecture 3 hours per week. Recitation and laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - NAS 131 - Astronomy: Solar System
- Introduces astronomy of the solar system, including the Sun, planets, their satellites, and other solar system objects. Includes discussions of the development of astronomy through the ages, recent discoveries, and experience with the types of mathematical exercises and observational skills essential for an understanding of the fundamental principles of solar system astronomy. Assignments require fluency in arithmetic, unit conversion, basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. This course is cross-listed with PHY 141. Credit will not be awarded for both.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - NAS 132 - Astronomy: Stars and Galaxies
- Introduces astronomy of the stars, including the Sun, celestial objects, stellar formation and death and cosmology, and the study of the universe as a whole. Includes discussions of the development of astronomy through the ages, recent discoveries and experience with the types of mathematical principles employed and the astronomical observational skills essential for an understanding of the fundamental principles of astronomy and cosmology. Assignments require fluency in arithmetic, unit conversion, basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. This course is cross-listed with PHY 142. Credit will not be awarded for both.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - NAS 171 - Human Anatomy and Physiology I
- Presents the human organ systems and their functions as they relate to allied health science. Part I of II. This course applies to career/technical education (CTE) programs. BIO 141/142 and BIO 231/232 serve both transfer and CTE programs.Lecture 3 hours per week. Recitation and laboratory 3 hours per week. Total 6 hours per week.
