Uses a family-centered approach; studies normal and common complications in pregnancy, childbirth, post-partum, the neonate, and children through adolescence. Covers milestones in all aspects of growth and development and common childhood disorders at various ages.

Studies history, classification, sources, effects, uses and legalities of drugs. Teaches problem solving skills used in medication administrations. Emphasizes major drug classes and specific agents within each class.

Provides supervised learning experiences in college nursing laboratories and/or cooperating agencies.

Teaches nursing care of individuals and/or families experiencing alterations in health utilizing the nursing process. Prerequisite: PNE 187.
