Introduces common business procedures used in veterinary practice. Includes bill collection, appointment scheduling, telephone techniques, record keeping, merchandising, drug ordering and inventory control, and supervision of employees.
Lecture 3 hours per week.

General Course Purpose
This course is intended to introduce the aspiring licensed veterinary technician to the business procedures associated with running a practice. The course focuses both on the skills that are required to get hired (like creating a resume and interviewing) and succeeding as a new professional. Students are exposed to policies and procedures that govern how practices run. In addition, there is a heavy emphasis on the ?soft skills,? like customer service and phone etiquette, that are imperative to the long-term success of the business.
