Introduces the ultrastructure and functions of cells. Emphasizes cell metabolism, cell division, and control of gene expression.
Lecture 3 hours. Recitation and laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

This course profiles the ultrastructure and function of cells & cell organelles. Emphasis will be on cell components, metabolism, cell division, and control of gene expression. The laboratory portion of the course will demonstrate basic cell biology techniques as well as introduce the student to new research advances in cell and molecular biology.

Prerequisite(s): BIO 101 and CHM 111
