Focuses on the pathological processes of disease with emphasis on the anatomical and physiological alterations of the human body by systems. Includes diagnosis and management appropriate to the advanced health care provider in and out of the hospital environment.
Lecture 4 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

General Course Purpose
This course provides students with advanced concepts related to anatomical and physiological alterations in patients managed by advanced health care providers. Required for students testing National Registry paramedic.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
Prerequisite: EMT/B Certification
Course Objectives
- Relate their role and responsibilities in understanding the relevant pathophysiology related to disease processes commonly found in their patients.
- Obtain an accurate history and perform a comprehensive physical exam based on the understanding of the pathophysiology influencing the patient, and communicate the finding to others.
- Integrate pathophysiological principles and assessment findings to formulate a field impression and implement a treatment plan for trauma, medical, and specialty patients.
