SUR 130 - Introduction to Central Services at Piedmont Community College

Introduces central processing with a focus on skills necessary to perform central services competently and safely. Includes aseptic technique, patient-centered theories, decontamination, preparation and packaging for sterilization, sterilization processes, and sterile storage.
(3 Cr.) Lecture 2 hours. Lab 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

The purpose of this course is to develop competency in aseptic techniques and patient centered practices to perform competently in the clinical environment.
