Provides extensive clinical experience in all central sterilization areas, in addition to instruction and practice in areas such as selecting instruments, equipment, and supplies; using proper procedures; identifying regulations, standards, and safety.
Lecture 1 hour. Lab 12 hours. Total 13 hours per week.

General Course Purpose
The purpose of this course is to provide clinical experience in a hospital central sterilization department and to provide further instruction in standards and procedures in addition to those clinical skills.
Course Prerequisites/Corequisites
Prerequisites will be applied locally.
Course Objectives
- Perform decontamination of hospital instruments
- Monitor equipment and processes to ensure sterilization process was maintained
- Correctly label and store equipment
- Demonstrate correct wrapping and packaging of instruments
- Demonstrate correct use of sterilization equipment
- Display knowledge of regulations and standards to perform duties safely
- Prepare a case preparation for a particular surgical procedure
