Builds upon introductory concepts and skills to include areas such as cleaning, disinfection, sterilization of instruments and equipment, instrument processing, inventory management, safety and quality assurance, professional development and healthcare trends.
(3 Cr.) Lecture 2 hours. Lab 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

General Course Purpose
The purpose of this course is to provide competency in all aspects of the sterilization cycle of instruments and equipment.
Course Objectives
- Demonstrate proper cleaning of the surgical instruments
- Show understanding of surgical set-ups for the particular surgery
- Display knowledge of the various surgical instruments
- Demonstrate understanding of quality assurance
- Establish a relationship with the National Association (CRCST)
