- Introduces the composition and structure of the earth and modifying agents and processes. Investigates the formation of minerals and rocks, weathering, erosion, earthquakes, and crustal deformation.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - GOL 106 - Historical Geology
- Traces the evolution of the earth and life through time. Presents scientific theories of the origin of the earth and life and interprets rock and fossil record.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - GOL 110 - Earth Science
- Examines the dynamics of the earth and its relation to the solar system. Applies the principles of geology, oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy in a multi- disciplinary science environment. Stresses the effects of geologic processes on the environment.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - GOL 111 - Oceanography I
- Examines the dynamics of the oceans and ocean basins. Applies the principles of physical, chemical, biological, and geological oceanography. Part I of II.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.

- Examines the dynamics of the oceans and ocean basins. Applies the principles of physical, chemical, biological, and geological oceanography. Part II of II.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - GOL 135 - Field Studies in Geology
- Investigates geologic phenomena. Includes activities such as observation of regional geology and landforms, collection of samples, and measurement and interpretation of geologic structures.Field studies 3-6 hours per week.
1-2 credits - GOL 195 - Topics In
- Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - GOL 225 - Environmental Geology
- Explores the interaction between man and his physical environment. Stresses geologic hazards and environmental pollution utilizing case histories. Prerequisite GOL 105.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
