- MEC 103 - Electronic Circuits and Instrumentation
- Designed for non-majors. Covers electronic circuits, devices, instrumentation and basic communications, DC and AC theory, introduction to power supplies, amplifiers, and measurement devices.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - MEC 140 - Introduction to Mechatronics
- Presents foundational concepts in mechatronics including analog and digital electronics, sensors, actuators, microprocessors, and microprocessor interfacing to electromechanical systems. Surveys components and measurement equipment used in the design, installation, and repair of mechatronic equipment and circuits. This course is cross-listed with ETR 140. Credit will not be awarded for both.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - MEC 148 - Industrial Pipefitting
- Covers the fundamentals of industrial piping installation, components, and layout. Considers the types of pipe and fabrication of piping systems, as well as the methods used to connect them.Credits 2 - 3. Lecture 1 - 2 hours. Lab 2 hours. Total 3 - 4 hours per week.
2-3 credits - MEC 154 - Mechanical Maintenance I
- Provides an overview of basic maintenance techniques and processes for industrial mechanics and technicians who are installing and maintaining industrial mechanical and power transmission components.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 1-2 hours. Total 3-4 hours per week.
3 credits - MEC 161 - Basic Fluid Mechanics - Hydraulics/Pneumatics
- Introduces theory, operation and maintenance of hydraulic/ pneumatics devices and systems. Emphasizes the properties of fluids, fluid flow, fluid statics, and the application of Bernoulli's equation.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-6 hours per week.
3-4 credits - MEC 162 - Applied Hydraulics and Pneumatics
- Introduces hydraulic and pneumatic systems found in construction equipment, road vehicles, and farm equipment. Includes the basic theory, construction, maintenance and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic power systems.Lecture 1-3 hours. Laboratory 1-3 hours. Total 2-5 hours per week.
2-3 credits - MEC 165 - Applied Hydraulics, Pneumatics and Hydrostatics
- Teaches fluid power system design, operation, testing, maintenance and repair. Includes reservoirs, pump connecting valves, cylinders, pressure regulating valves, flow control valves, hydraulic motors, and introduction to basic hydrostatic hydraulic systems.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - MEC 168 - Pump Systems
- Introduces the principles and applications of various commercial and industrial pumps and pumping systems with setups to calculate and measure pressure, flow and velocity of fluids within pumping systems.Credits 2 - 3. Lecture 1 - 2 hours. Lab 2 hours. Total 3 - 4 hours per week,
2-3 credits - MEC 169 - Steam Systems
- Introduces the components, principles and applications of various commercial and industrial steam and thermal controlled systems. Covers how to calculate and measure pressure, flow and system performance.Credits 2 - 3. Lecture 1 - 2 hours. Lab 2 hours. Total 3 - 4 hours per week.
2-3 credits - MEC 175 - Fundamental Shop Procedures and Internal Combustion Eng
- Introduces the practical use and care of tools, shop equipment and pullers, use of service manuals and parts catalogs, and safety. Includes introduction to the design, operation, testing, and service procedures of the internal combustion engine.Lecture 3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 6 hours per week.
4 credits - MEC 190 - Coordinated Internship
- Supervises on-the-job training in selected business, industrial or service firms coordinated by the college.Credit/practice ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
1-5 credits - MEC 205 - Piping and Auxiliary Systems
- Studies threaded pipe, welded pipe, isometric pipe sketching and layout, gaskets, packing, industrial hoses and tubing, basic steam system operations, automatic and manual valves, and positive displacement pumps.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - MEC 254 - Mechanical Maintenance II
- Covers advanced maintenance techniques and processes for industrial mechanics and technicians who are installing and maintaining industrial mechanical and power transmission components.Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 1-2 hours. Total 3-4 hours per week.
3 credits - MEC 265 - Fluid Mechanics
- Studies properties of fluids and fluid flow, Bernoulli's theorem, measuring devices, viscosity and dimensional analysis. Emphasizes fluid statics, flow in pipes and channels, and pumps.Lecture 3 hours per week.
