- BLD 111 - Blueprint Reading and the Building Code
- Introduces reading and interpreting various kinds of blueprints and working drawings with reference to local, state, and national building codes.Lecture 2 hours.Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - BLD 115 - Building Codes
- Examines the building codes and standards applicable to building construction and inspection processes. Covers how to search, interpret and implement the Virginia Uniform State Wide Building Code.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - BLD 117 - Contract Documents and Construction Law
- Covers contractual relationships; contract forms and documents; managing general conditions; good documentation processes; differing site conditions; time impacts; negotiation of resolutions.Lecture 2-3 hours per week.
2-3 credits - BLD 215 - OSHA 30 Construction Safety
- Covers all topics included in the OSHA 30-hour course.Lecture 2 hours per week.
Prerequisite: OSHA 10 Certification.2 credits - BLD 247 - Construction Planning and Scheduling
- Introduces principles of planning and scheduling of a construction project. Includes sequence of events and processes on a construction site. Studies scheduling techniques including the critical path method.Lecture 3 hours per week.
