INS 230 - Instrumentation I at Tidewater Community College

Course Description

Effective: 2015-05-01

Presents the fundamental scientific principles of process control including temperature, pressure, level, and flow measurements. Topics include transducers, thermometers, and gauges are introduced along with calibration.
Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 3-4 hours. Total 5-7 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

Instrumentation I is a course of study designed to acquaint the student with basic knowledge and understanding of the industrial instrumentation field, with special emphasis on accident prevention and industrial safety procedures in the shop and plant.

Prerequisites: ETR 113 and ETR 144
