PHT 110 - History of Photography
Surveys important photographers, processes, and historical influences of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
Lecture 3 hours per week.

PHT 126 - Introduction to Video Techniques
Concentrates on skills necessary to light, edit, and record on video tape. Covers situations such as weddings, meetings, and small corporate productions.

Teaches the fundamentals of photography including camera function, composition, and image production as they apply to digital imagery.

PHT 171 - Imaging and Concepts in Photographic Media Arts
Covers best practices in imaging workflows, concept building, ideation, and steps in the creative process. Introduces students to working with multiple images in a series and as sequence. Provides students the opportunity to create and manipulate digital images and examine property-rights issues. Exposes students to a variety of software used for image organization, archiving, image editing, compositing, layer masking, the application of special effects, and outsourcing.

Provides weekly critiques of students' work. Centers on specific problems found in critiques. Includes working procedures and critical skills in looking at photographs. Prerequisite PHT 102 or equivalent. Part I of II.

Examines advanced lighting and camera techniques under controlled studio conditions. Includes view camera use, electronic flash, advanced lighting techniques, color temperature and filtration, and lighting ratios. Requires outside shooting. Prerequisite PHT 102 or equivalent. Part I of II.
Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
