- CAD 120 - Introduction to Graphic Representation
- Teaches use of instruments, lettering, sketching, and drawing conventions. Emphasizes legible drawings and the value of presentation. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 120 and DRF 120.)Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.
2-3 credits - CAD 128 - Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Teaches use of a positional tolerance system, its relationship to coordinate tolerance systems, and other aspects of industry standard drafting practices. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 128 and DRF 128.)Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.
3-4 credits - CAD 132 - Electrical and Electronic Drafting I
- Teaches the design of block and logic, schematic and wiring diagrams, house wiring plans, printed circuit boards and card cages. Part I of II. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 132 and DRF 132.)Lecture 2 hour. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - CAD 140 - Technical Drawing
- Enhances the principles learned that are related directly to the field of drafting and design. Gives a more in-depth exposure to detail and working drawings, dimensioning, tolerancing and conventional drafting practices. Teaches CAD modeling, may include parametric modeling. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 140 and DRF 140.)Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - CAD 151 - Engineering Drawing Fundamentals I
- Introduces technical drafting from the fundamentals through advanced drafting practices. Includes lettering, geometric construction, technical sketching, orthographic projection, sections, intersections, development, fasteners. Teaches theory and application of dimensioning and tolerances, pictorial drawing, and preparation of drawings. Part I of II. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 151 and DRF 151.)Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 4-6 hours. Total 5-7 hours per week.
3 credits - CAD 152 - Engineering Drawing Fundamentals II
- Introduces technical drafting from the fundamentals through advanced drafting practices. Includes lettering, geometric construction, technical sketching, orthographic projection, sections, intersections, development, fasteners. Teaches theory and application of dimensioning and tolerances, pictorial drawing, and preparation of drawings. Part II of II. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 152 and DRF 152.)Lecture 1 hour. 3 credits - CAD 155 - Fundamentals of Architectural Drafting
- Introduces fundamentals of architectural drafting and planning of functional buildings. Presents architectural lettering, symbols, and dimensioning, and working drawings including site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, and details. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 155 and DRF 155.)Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - CAD 165 - Architectural Blueprint Reading
- Emphasizes reading, understanding and interpreting standard types of architectural drawings including plans, elevation, sections and details. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 165 and DRF 165.)Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - CAD 202 - Computer Aided Drafting and Design II
- Teaches production drawings and advanced operations in computer aided drafting. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 202 and DRF 202.)Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-6 hours per week.
3-4 credits - CAD 211 - Advanced Technical Drafting I
- Teaches use of drafting equipment and applications, emphasizing knowledge and skill required for industrial drawing. Includes piping, gearing, geometric and positional tolerances and 2D/3D drawing layout. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 211 and DRF 211.)Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.
3 credits - CAD 226 - Computer Aided Machining
- Teaches use of software to create numerical machine code to drive CNC milling machines or lathes. Introduces software and techniques to create, edit and produce CAD drawings, tool paths, and the numerical code for a CAM machine. Includes history, applications, hardware and software requirements, terminology, limitation and future trends. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 226 and DRF 226.)Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.
3-4 credits - CAD 235 - Applications for Additive Manufacturing
- Teaches advanced skills in 3D parametric modeling for the purpose of digital and rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing. Focuses on proper techniques to construct 3D models and assemblies for 3D printing, molding, and casting.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.
3 credits - CAD 238 - Computer Aided Modeling and Rendering I
- Focuses on training students in the contemporary techniques of 3D modeling, rendering, and animation on the personal computer. Introduces the principles of visualization, sometimes known as photo-realism, which enables the student to create presentation drawings for both architectural and industrial product design. Uses computer animation to produce walk-throughs that will bring the third dimension to architectural designs. Part I of II. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 238 and DRF 238.)Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 3-4 hours per week.
2-3 credits - CAD 241 - Parametric Solid Modeling I
- Focuses on teaching students the design of parts by parametric solid modeling. Topics covered will include, but not limited to, sketch profiles; geometric and dimensional constraints; 3-D features; model generation by extrusion, revolution and sweep; and the creation of 2-D drawing views that include sections, details and auxiliary. Part I of II. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 241 and DRF 241.)Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-6 hours per week.
3-4 credits - CAD 247 - Ship Design Drafting
- Introduces the shipbuilding industry, shop structure design components, and ship drafting to develop skills required in drawing the "lines" of a ship. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 247 and DRF 247.)Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - CAD 270 - Advanced Ship Design Drafting
- Covers advanced concepts related to the shipbuilding industry, ship structure design components, and ship drafting to develop skills required in drawing the "lines" of a shipLecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
Prerequisite: CAD 2473 credits - CAD 280 - Design Capstone Project
- Focuses on design projects developed in independently and in consultation with the Instructor. Topics covered but not limited t, parametric modeling, civil, mechanical piping, architectural applications, structural, electro-mechanical, 3-D Solids, exploration of application software and the integration of CAD/CAM. (Credit will not be awarded for both CAD 280 and DRF 280.)2-3 credits
