- HCT 101 - Health Care Technician I
- Teaches basic care skills with emphasis on physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients. Covers procedures, communications and interpersonal relations; observation, charting and reporting; care planning, safety and infection control; anatomy and physiology, nutrition and patient feeding; ethics, death and dying. Prepares mutli-skilled health care workers to care for patients of various ages with special emphasis on geriatric nursing, home health, long and short term care facilities.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - HCT 102 - Health Care Technician II
- Applies theory through laboratory experience for health care technicians to work in home health, long and short term facilities.Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 2-6 hours. Total 3-8 hours per week.
Prerequisite: HCT 101.3-4 credits - HCT 110 - Therapeutic Communication in the Health Care Setting
- Develops therapeutic relationship, communication and culture, problem solving electronic communication, techniques in therapeutic communication and blocks to therapeutic communication. Addresses assertiveness, anger, and managing team conflict.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - HCT 196 - On-Site Training
- Specializes in career orientation and training program without pay in selected businesses and industry, supervised and coordinated by the college.Credit/work ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
