The Career Studies Certificate in Career Studies Certificate in Architectural Technology is part of the CAD/CADD Drafting and/or Design Technology/Technician program at Virginia Peninsula Community College

The CSC Architectural Technology program includes training in computer software, construction materials methods, and print reading. Courses in the program are requested by students for career advancement in the architectural CAD area and to articulate to Hampton University's Architecture program and Norfolk State University's Architecture and Construction Management programs. Coursework includes training in computer software, construction materials and methods, and print reading. Upon completion students will be eligible for hire in positions such as CAD Technician, Design Associate, and Piping Designers, earning an annual salary of $43,000 or higher. After successful completion of the certificate students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of architecture history; demonstrate knowledge of architectural technology,
construction materials, and methods in the solution of architectural design problems. They will also be able to demonstrate the ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints; and possess the ability to create freehand drawings of residential and commercial buildings, as well as using CAD software to model residential and commercial buildings and solve architectural design problems. Students will also earn their AutoCAD Certification and Autodesk Revit Certification.
