- ARC 100 - Introduction to Architecture
- Outlines history and impact of architecture. Emphasizes dynamics and social aspects of architecture and society; focuses on 19th and 20th century architectural forms.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 105 - Orientation and History of Architecture
- Outlines the history of architecture and its impact on the dynamics of architecture and society.Lecture 1 hour per week.
1 credits - ARC 121 - Architectural Drafting I
- Introduces techniques of architectural drafting, including lettering, dimensioning, and symbols. Requires production of plans, sections, and elevations of a simple building. Studies use of common reference material and the organization of architectural working drawings. Requires development of a limited set of working drawings, including a site plan, related details, and pictorial drawings. Part I of II. Credit will not awarded for both ARC 121 and ARC 123.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 122 - Architectural Drafting II

3 credits - ARC 130 - Introduction to Materials & Methods of Construction
- Introduces the physical properties and characteristics of building materials and methods of construction. Includes review of residential and light commercial wood-frame construction techniques and an introduction to steel and concrete structural systems.Lecture 3-4 hours per week.
3-4 credits - ARC 131 - Materials and Methods of Construction I
- Covers use of wood as a building material in all phases of construction. Deals with species used, growth characteristics, hygroscopic properties, and applications of lumber and plywood. Includes wood framing systems, premanufactured components, modular systems, windows, doors, cabinets and flooring.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 133 - Construction Methodology & Procedures I
- Studies materials used in construction of buildings, covering foundations to structural framing systems. Includes appropriate use of materials for various construction types. Includes specification of materials and installation procedures; types of specifications and writing procedures; bidding procedures and, contract documents. Part I of II.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 198 - Seminar and Project
- Requires completion of a project or research report related to the student's occupational objectives and a study of approaches to the selection and pursuit of career opportunities in the field.May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.

- Assigns problems for independent study incorporating previous instruction and supervised by the instructor.May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.

- Surveys architecture from ancient times to the 19th century, with emphasis on philosophy of design, form and structure.Lecture 4 hours per week.
4 credits - ARC 212 - Architectural Drafting III
- Provides fundamental knowledge of the principles and techniques of architectural drawings, procedures. Familiarizes students with design process to provide a better understanding of the relationship between architectural design and structural systems.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.
Prerequisite: ARC 112 or equivalent.3 credits - ARC 221 - Architectural CAD Applications Software I
- Teaches the principles and techniques of architectural drawing practices through the use of architecture specific CAD software. Utilizes the commands and features of the software to generate drawings that emphasize architectural design and structural systems. Use local prerequisites.Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 2 hours. Total 4 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 241 - Building Mechanical Systems
- Studies components and design for systems in residential and commercial building. Covers plumbing supply and drainage, including storm drainage and private sewage disposal. Requires calculation of overall heat balances for buildings as basis for design of heating and cooling systems.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 251 - Architectural Drawing I
- Studies building details, one-point and two-point perspective line drawings. Studies working drawings for small buildings, floor and foundation plans, elevations and details. Part I of II.Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 6 hours. Total 7 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 258 - Building Codes, Contract Documents & Prof. Office Pract
- Covers professional role of the architectural technician with regard to the construction industry. Includes building codes and their effect on specifications and drawings. Teaches purpose and writing of specifications with their legal and practical application to working drawings. Analyzes contract documents for client-architect-contractor responsibilities and duties.Lecture 3 hours per week.
3 credits - ARC 297 - Cooperative Education
- Supervises in on-the-job training for pay in approved business, industrial and service firms, coordinated by the college's cooperative education office. Is applicable to all occupational- technical curricula at the discretion of the college.Credit/work ratio not to exceed 1:5 hours. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.
