AUT 101 - Introduction to Automotive Systems
Introduces fundamental systems of automobile, the engine fuel, exhaust, electric, ignition, lubrication, cooling, transmission, steering, brake and suspension systems. Teaches theory and function of each system. Demonstrates operation.
Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 2-3 hours. Total 4-6 hours per week.

AUT 109 - Applied Mathematics for Automotive Technicians
Introduces arithmetic skills, conversion of units, consumer mathematics, solution of linear algebraic expression, and the solving of applied problems in torque, horsepower, piston displacement.

AUT 111 - Automotive Engines I
Presents analysis of power, cylinder condition, valves and bearings in the automotive engine to establish the present condition, repairs or adjustments. Part I of II.

AUT 113 - Cylinder Block Service I
Studies basic cylinder block reconditioning, including boring, resleeving, line-boring and deck resurfacing. Includes repair techniques for damaged block and cylinder head castings to include cold welding, brazing, welding and epoxy.
Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

AUT 126 - Auto Fuel and Ignition Systems
Studies automobile ignition and fuel systems, their functions in operation of engine. Includes carburetors, fuel pumps, ignition systems, troubleshooting, engine test and adjustment, tune-up.
Lecture 2-4 hours. Laboratory 3-9 hours. Total 7-11 hours per week.

AUT 127 - Automotive Lubrication and Cooling Systems
Analyzes lubrication systems to include lubricants, pumps, lines, filters, and vents. Also analyzes cooling systems, coolants, pumps, fans, lines and connections. Teaches estimating repairs, adjustments needed and their costs.
Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4-5 hours per week.

AUT 136 - Automotive Vehicle Inspection
Presents information on methods for performing automotive vehicle safety inspection.

AUT 165 - Auto Diagnosis and Tune-Up
Presents the techniques for diagnosis of malfunctions in systems of the automobile. Uses dynamometers, oscilloscopes and other specialized diagnostic and testing equipment. Demonstrates tune-up of conventional and rotary engines.
Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 4 hours per week.

Provides an opportunity to explore topical areas of interest to or needed by students.
May be used also for special honors courses. May be repeated for credit. Variable hours.

Supervises in on-the-job training for pay in approved business, industrial and service firms, coordinated by the college's cooperative education office. Is applicable to all occupational- technical curricula at the discretion of the college.

Introduces current trends in alternative fueled vehicles including current alternative fueled vehicles and the implication and safety precautions necessary for working on hybrid vehicles systems.

Studies separate and combined automotive heaters and air conditioning, including direct and vacuum operated controls, basic principles of refrigeration, adjustment, general servicing, and charging of air conditioning systems.

AUT 236 - Automotive Climate Control
Introduces principles of refrigeration, air conditioning controls, and adjustment and general servicing of automotive air conditioning systems.

Introduces electricity and magnetism, symbols and circuitry as applied to the alternators, regulators, starters, lighting systems, instruments and gauges and accessories. Part I of II.

AUT 251 - Automatic Transmissions
Studies several types of automatic transmissions, torque converters, and their principles of operation. Includes adjustment, maintenance, and rebuilding.

AUT 265 - Automotive Braking Systems
Presents operation, design, construction, repair, and servicing of braking system, including Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS). Explains uses of tools and test equipment, evaluation of test results, estimation of repair cost for power, standard and disc brakes.
Lecture 2-3 hours. Laboratory 3 hours. Total 5-6 hours per week.

AUT 266 - Auto Alignment, Suspension and Steering
Introduces use of alignment equipment in diagnosing, adjusting, and repairing front and rear suspensions. Deals with repair and servicing of power and standard steering systems.
Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 6 hours. Total 7-8 hours per week.
