- Provides guided nurse aide experiences for practicing skills in the clinical setting. Applies fundamental principles of basic nurse aide care.Laboratory 3-6 hours per week.

- Teaches fundamentals of patient care with laboratory experience in foods and fluids, elimination, moving patients, morning, afternoon and evening care, care of hospital equipment, means of providing special comforts and safety, and admission and discharge procedures.Lecture 2 hours. 3 credits - NUR 27 - Nurse Aide I
- Teaches care of older patients with emphasis on the social, emotional, and spiritual needs. Covers procedures; communication and interpersonal relations; observation, charting and reporting; safety and infection control; anatomy and physiology; personal care, nutrition and patient feeding; death and dying. - Develops nursing skills for the basic needs of individuals and introduces related theory. Includes assessment, personal care, activity/rest, sterile technique, wound care, ostomy care, catheterization, oxygen administration, infection control, suctioning and medication administration. 2-3 credits - NUR 108 - Nursing Principles and Concepts I
- Introduces principles of nursing, health and wellness concepts, and the nursing process. Identifies nursing strategies to meet the multidimensional needs of individuals. Includes math computational skills, basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care, introduction to the profession of nursing, nursing process, documentation; basic needs related to integumentary system, teaching/learning, stress, psychosocial, safety, nourishment, elimination, oxygenation, circulation, rest, comfort, sensory, fluid and electrolyte and mobility needs in adult clients. 5-6 credits - NUR 109 - Nursing Principles and Concepts II
- Focuses on nursing care of individuals and/or families experiencing alterations in health. Includes math computational skills, basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care; immunological, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, oncological and diabetic disorders and pre/post operative care in adult and pediatric clients. Provides supervised learning experiences in college nursing laboratories and/or cooperating agencies.Lecture 1-5 hours. Laboratory 2-15 hours. Total 7-16 hours per week.

- Introduces nursing principles including concepts of health and wellness and the nursing process. Develops nursing skills to meet the biopsychosocial needs of individuals across the lifespan. Includes math computational skills, basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care, communication skills, introduction to nursing, health, the health care system, legal aspects of nursing care, diagnostic testing, assessment, teaching and learning, asepsis, body mechanics and safety, personal care, activity/rest, wound care, nutrition, elimination, oxygenation, fluid and electrolytes, pain control, medication administration, aging populations and pre/post operative care. 7-8 credits - NUR 112 - Nursing II
- Focuses on the nursing care of adults experiencing changes along the health/illness continuum that are common, well-defined, and have predictable outcomes. Includes math computational skills, basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care; acid-base balance, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, musculoskeletal, immunology, oncology, sensori-neural, infectious diseases, endocrine, respiratory and blood disorders and care of the dying client. Provides supervised learning experiences in college nursing laboratories and/or cooperating agencies.Lecture 1-7 hours. Laboratory 3-21 hours. Total 9-22 hours per week.
7-8 credits - NUR 114 - Geriatric Nursing
- Presents theoretical and clinical nursing aspects of the aging population. Includes the aging process, psychological aspects, common age-related disorders, pharmacologic aspects, care facilities, and relationships between elders and caregivers.Lecture 1-4 hours. 3-4 credits - NUR 115 - LPN Transition
- Introduces the role of the registered nurse through concepts and skill development in the discipline of professional nursing. This course serves as a bridge course for licensed practical nurses and is based upon individualized articulation agreements, mobility exams, or other assessment criteria as they relate to local programs and service areas. Includes math computational skills and basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care. - Introduces selected basic skills and concepts in the discipline of nursing and their incorporation into care to meet the changing standards of nursing practice.
