NUR 121 - Nursing Fundamentals I
Introduces the nursing process as a framework to meet the biopsychosocial needs of individuals/families throughout the lifespan. Focuses on assessment, introducing basic concepts and needs, pharmacologic treatment and developing basic nursing skills. Includes math computational skills, basic computer instruction related to the delivery of nursing care, introduction to nursing, legal aspects of nursing care, diagnostic testing, assessment, asepsis, body mechanics and safety, personal care, mobility, wound care, elimination, fluid and electrolytes, regulation, pain control, care of the obstetrical client, labor/ delivery and care of the newborn and medication administration and dosage calculations. Provides supervised learning
Lecture 1-9 hours. Laboratory 2-27 hours. Total 12-28 hours per week.
