ART 134 - Three Dimensional Design

Course Description

Explores the concepts of three dimensional design applicable to all fields of Visual Art. Covers tools and techniques. Uses computers as appropriate for research.
Lecture 1-2 hours. Laboratory 4 hours. Total 5-6 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

Students will explore a variety of subject matter, and use skills acquired in class to produce three-dimensional representational, abstract, and non-objective artwork.Introduces 3-D design concepts and focuses on idea development using both traditional and nontraditional three-dimensional materials and media. A hands-on approach is used in modeling, casting, carving, assemblage, mixed media, installation, and time-based artwork. This course prepares students for intermediate-level visual arts courses in both transfer and career programs in art. It may also be taken for personal enrichment.
