BIO 215 - Plant Life of Virginia

Course Description

Focuses on identification and ecological relationships of the native plants of Virginia. Emphasizes the natural communities of trees, shrubs, herbaceous plants, ferns, and some invasive species.
Lecture 2 hours. Recitation and laboratory 3 hours. Total 5 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

This course introduces students to the diverse plant communities in the Virginia ridge and valley, piedmont, and coastal plain regions. Plant species covered in the course will vary among VCCS campuses depending on the location of each college.
