CSP 291 - Intermediate Clinical Applications

Course Description

Effective: 2018-01-01

Provides the student with continued hands-on practice in the clinical setting with an emphasis packaging, wrapping, and sterilization in the clinical setting within a central sterilization processing department. Provides the clinical experience required for International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) Certification.
Laboratory 9 hours. Total 9 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

This course provides clinical experience in the central sterile environment in preparation for practice as a certified central sterile technician and provides 135 hours toward the 400 clinical hours in wrapping, packaging, and sterilization required for the IAHCSMM certification exam.

Prerequisite: CSP 191, Fundamental Clinical Applications
