EGR 121 - Foundations of Engineering

Course Description

Discusses the engineering profession, including engineering ethics and responsibilities,communications and career paths and different engineering disciplines. Covers mathematics and science fundamentals used in engineering. Describes computational engineering tools and covers the computer programming used in solving engineering problems.
Lecture 2 hours. Total 2 hour per week.

General Course Purpose

This course exposes the incoming engineering freshman to the world of engineering. Here the student will obtain a first impression of what engineering is all about as well as gaining some skills in basic engineering procedures and approaches used, including the different computational tools used. The course emphasizes that the engineer is a team member who needs strong skills in analysis and problem solving, communications, and understands the holistic nature of engineering and ever evolving need to address social, global, ethical, economic, and environmental concerns
