EMS 120 - Emergency Medical Technician - Clinical

Course Description

Provides supervised direct patient contact introducing the student to the assessment and emergency care of sick and injured patients. This course is a co-requisite for either EMS 111 or EMS 113, depending upon the program in which the student is participating.
Laboratory 2 hours. Total 2 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

The course is a component of the Emergency Medical Technician curriculum governed by Virginia Office of EMS. At least 10 patient contacts, where the student participates in patient care are mandated. It requires 20-30 clock hours in the average 911 system.
