Teaches harvesting methods including physical layout, economics, contracts, silvicultural water management, protection consideration, and woods safety.
4 credits. Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 6 hours. Total 8 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

The course is to education, train, and give understanding to the techniques to be proficient in the safe operation of a chainsaw in the skills of felling trees and merchandizing whole trees into market specific forest products. Give knowledge in understanding varying types of timber harvesting equipment and operations. To understand timber harvesting in-the-field operations layout, safety regulations, environmental protection regulations, forest road layout and design, and much more.
