FST 207 - Fire Alarm Systems I

Course Description

Effective: 2019-08-01

Teaches basic design and installation methods of fire alarm equipment and devices and the requirements of codes and standards that govern fire alarm systems and installations including National Fire Protection Association (NFPA 70), Fire Alarm and Signaling Code (NFPA 72), the National Fire Alarm Code, and the National Electric Code (NEC).
Lecture 3 hours. Total 3 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

The purpose of this course is to provide the student with the principles of fire alarm system design and construction in order to prevent or minimize potential losses from fire, water, smoke and/or explosions, as well as to prepare students for the National Society of Protection Engineers - National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Fire Alarm Systems Level I and II certification examinations.
