MAC 254 - Machining Flow Cell IT Integration

Course Description

Provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate process and quality control through the use of information technology (IT) systems in the manufacturing environment. Covers the use of measure cuts in high-end machining, systems communication, and data transfer to monitor productivity and quality. Features tools to monitor part quality in process.
Lecture 1 hour, Laboratory 3 hours, Total 4 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

This course will give students an in-depth understanding of how IT systems are integrated into a production environment in the precision machining manufacturing world. Students will gain hands on experience with probing equipment, quality software, and other in process inspection tools. This course will demonstrate the importance of systems communication with regard to productivity and quality.
