MAC 256 - Multi-axis Machine Tool Set-up, Programming and Operation

Course Description

Covers the programming and operation of high end 5-axis milling and 3-axis turning machines. Features complex set-ups on 5-axis milling and 3-axis turning machines. Examines technical instructions and guidelines set forth by a flow cell precision machining environment. Demonstrates the necessary standard and quality audits associated with a machining flow cell.
Lecture 1 hour, Laboratory 6 hours, Total 7 hours per week.

General Course Purpose

Students will be responsible for the complex set-up and operation of 5 axis milling and 3 axis turning machines. This course will also teach students to be responsible for quality and standard audits in a real flow cell team environment. This course will expose students to keeping track of part documentation and following technical instructions.
