MDL 260 - Laboratory Instrumentation

Course Description

Effective: 2016-08-01

Teaches the theory, principles of operation, methodologies, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the more common instrumentation used in the clinical laboratory.
Lecture 2 hours. Laboratory 0-3 hours. Total 2-5 hours per week.
2-3 credits

General Course Purpose

To provide current students with the theory and skills necessary to ensure valid lab results using automated analysis by commonly utilized laboratory instrumentation. To include: Instrument Quality Assurance, troubleshooting and general maintenance of the instruments; Principals of LIS interface; current instrument methodology.
