PBH 130 - Nutrition for Public Health

Course Description

Provides an introduction to the basic concepts of nutrition and nutritional principles across the lifespan. Features the fundamentals of normal nutrition, carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and their roles in human metabolism and weight management. Discusses public health initiatives to provide nutrition education.
Lecture 3 hours per week, 3 credits.

General Course Purpose

This course is designed to provide an introduction to nutritional concepts, principles and fundamentals, as well as public health initiatives designed to mitigate nutrition-based disease. This is a required course for the Career Studies Certificate in Public Health.
